BNL Round 3: Windbreakers lose to Mountaineers

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Windbreakers (1-1) in Cape on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Mountaineers (1-1) 71-61. Mountaineers forced 25 Windbreakers turnovers and outrebounded them 55-43 including 22 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for Aristote Kalala who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds. Siphiwe Zulu helped adding 15 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was swingman Julian Wright with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mountaineers is again looking forward to face Windbreakers in Port Elizabeth in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Windbreakers will have a break next round.
Important game to mention about took place in Limpopo. Zebras (2-0) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging Pride (0-2) 71-69 in the game for the first place. It was an exceptional evening for forward Thomas Rutsito who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 20 rebounds and 4 blocks. Wandile Tshabalala accounted for 15 points. Zebras' coach used entire bench in such tough game. Swingman Ernest Masimini came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for Pride in the defeat. Zebras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pride will play again on the road against Zebras in Kimberley and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Mbombela. host Rhinos (0-2) were smashed by Marlins (2-0) 100-49. The best player for the winners was Liam Reid-Laynes who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was S Mhlongo who recorded 9 points and 6 rebounds.

M.Rhinos - KZ Marlins 49-100

The game between Top Four teams took place in Mbombela. host Rhinos (0-2) were smashed by Marlins (2-0) 100-49. Marlins dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Rhinos' 24. They outrebounded Rhinos 41-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was center Liam Reid-Laynes (-98) who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Swingman Mthokozisi Masondo chipped in 7 points and 7 rebounds. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was S Mhlongo who recorded 9 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Paul Mlangeni added 11 points respectively.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kwazulu. host Marlins (2-0) defeated Rhinos (0-2) 71-65. Marlins forced 20 Rhinos turnovers. It was a good game for the former international guard Kyle Maclean (188-94, college: UCSB) who led his team to a victory with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Nfanafuthi Ntombela (191) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Marlins' coach gave the chance to play for all 12 players saving starting five for next games. Forward Graci Kibikiabo answered with 24 points and 9 rebounds and P Nkosi added 11 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Rhinos. Four Rhinos players scored in double figures.
